Anne
Arundel
County
Home to Maryland’s state capital Annapolis, Anne Arundel County offers a nice blend of old and new.
Annapolis itself, considered the “Sailing Capital of America”, boasts the oldest statehouse in the nation that is still in use. To the north is the U.S. Naval Academy. Sitting on 875 acres it features a petting zoo, great educational benefits and possibly a look at the academy mascot, Bill the Goat.
Then there’s St. John’s College, the third oldest college in the U.S. where students don’t even have to take tests.
Visit the Historic London Town and Garden in Edgewater. There you can tour a Georgian house, explore the remains of a lost town or just wander the woodland gardens…and, if you’re lucky, even join in the archaeological dig.
If shopping’s your thing, visit the Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover where you have access to over 200 stores and shops plus a variety of theme and casual restaurants and many entertainment venues.
Anne Arundel County sits on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay so there are many beach communities from which to choose.
